Professional Summary
Mr. Jordan has 6 years of experience in the field of environmental planning and management in
Saipan. The offspring of Peace Corps volunteers on the islands of Yap, Robert has called
Micronesia home his entire life. After graduating with honors from the University of California,
Santa Cruz with a Bachelor of Science in environmental chemistry, he returned to his island
home with the goal of bringing about efficient and practical solutions to the environmental
problems faced by island communities, as well as to aid in driving Micronesia's environmental

Assistant Program Manager, Department of Public Works (DPW), Solid Waste Management
Division, Saipan, January 2005 – March 2006.
As an environmental manager for the DPW Solid Waste Management Division, provided overall
planning, supervision and administration of the CNMI Integrated Solid Waste Management
System. Tasks included: development and implementation of Saipan’s waste diversion
programs; general site management, contracting oversight and personnel training;
improvement of the disaster debris management plan for Saipan; coordinated hazardous and
other waste assessments and cleanups; provided planning and supervisory duties for the
design of the fully-compliant closure of Puerto Rico Dump; provided oversight for operations at
the Marpi Landfill Facility and; insured solid waste program compliance with all local and
federal regulations. Saipan’s representative for disaster workshops, training and applicant’s
briefings with FEMA, CNMI Emergency Management Office and the CNMI Public Assistance
Office. Coordinated and developed project scope of work and cost estimates for debris,
greenwaste, temporary staging areas and landfills in the aftermath of numerous typhoons to
affect the CNMI.
Environmental Planner, Division of Solid Waste Management, Department of Public Works,
Saipan, December 2002 – January 2005.
Provided technical oversight and planning for all aspects of the Solid Waste Program
development in Saipan, Tinian and Rota. Served as a liaison between DPW and the general
public for education and outreach. Worked with local and federal agencies in the planning,
compliance and execution of diverse waste management strategies for the CNMI.
Teaching Assistant for Statistical Mechanics, Thermodynamics and Quantum Mechanics
Courses, University of California, September 2001 – June 2002
Supervised bi-weekly sections aimed at assisting students with material covered in the lectures
